Richard Carrington has many years of experience in building companies and creating value. He became the CEO of Hydrospec Exploration Company in 2007. Since its inception, Hydrospec has made more than $1.2 billion in acquisitions.


Richard Carrington, is the Chief Executive Officer of Hydrospec Exploration Company. He relocated to the United State in 1968. With over 20 years of experience working at Hydrospec Exploration Company, Roy is a fourth-generation employee, following in the footsteps of George Bolton, Norman Harvey and Earl E. Harvey. Born in Oslo Norway and raised in Houston Texas, he grew up with an appreciation and love for South Texas.

Richard's very first job was at Hydrospec Exploration Company was while he was still in high school. During summer breaks, he answered phones, worked as a rodman, and helped with other administrative duties. “From early on I learned that you dug in and did whatever was necessary to get the job done”.

During his college years, he worked in bookkeeping and was also Hydrospec’s payroll clerk. After graduating from Houston International University with a degree in Business majoring in Finance and International Business, Roy left Hydrospec to work in management with a focus on real estate. In this capacity, his work included review and negotiation of contracts, purchases, and lease values and terms. Roy was asked to rejoin Hydrospec in 1990, was appointed to the Board of Directors in 1993, and became CEO in 2007.

Roy shares his mission for the 120-year old company, “A lot has changed throughout the years, whether it’s building booms, recessions, hurricanes, or leadership changes. However, Richard's core values have consistently remained the same. We understand that our employees are the backbone of the company, and we invest only in the best.
